Kim,
One year ago today was our very first workout. I walked in
a size 14 with a goal to get back into my closet full of size 12's. Now
I am buying a size 8 (I will be forwarding my VISA bill to you), and
most importantly I feel great! You are a fantastic trainer. Thanks so
much for all your time, knowledge, and encouragement! You rock!!!

FIM is not just a gym, it's a way of life. When I began working out the thought of a personal trainer was very intimidating, but the trainers and clients of FIM were welcoming and encouraging. Personal training was not something I would have done on my own, but I joined with a friend and was the best decision I ever made. Personal training at FIM changed my body, but it also changed my life. I am now a more confident, healthy, and happier person. I find myself more optimistic and ready to take on whatever comes my way.

Training at FIM changed my life. It gave me the strength and confidence to enter my first bodybuilding competition at the age of 38. Eight years later I'm still a FIM girl, and my time here has shown me that limits are mostly self-imposed. My training has strengthened my mind and my spirit in addition to my body. I know now that whether I get results or make excuses, it's all me. If I don't make my goals it just means I haven't been committed enough, and I need to keep trying. This year I will realize two long-time goals: I am learning to program and am marrying my soulmate. I can truthfully say if I hadn't trained at FIM I wouldn't be doing either. Thanks Team FIM!!!

As a heavy child, I have always been conscious of my weight. Like everyone, I came up with excuses like I was big boned or had a slow metabolism. However, at age 15, I went to "fat camp" in the Catskills and with diet and exercise, I was able to lose 38 pounds in two months proving the adage that calories in equals calories out.
After gaining weight again in my late forties, I read an article in Newsweek about "Super Slow" weight training and decided to seek out a gym to try this method that didn't make you sweat. My wife did the investigating of gyms in the area and came home one day and said that she found the gym for me. She met D.J. and believed in his philosophies and felt that this was a small enough gym that I wouldn't just be a membership number to the staff.
I have been training with D. J. since 2000 and have been going a minimum of twice a week since then. I love to eat and have decided that I will never be my college weight again but I feel confident that no one will look at me and think that there is an overweight person.
Ironically, I calculated my BMI and according to their chart, I am morbidly obese, but according to this photo taken 10/26/08, I don't think so. I also have my son and daughter training at FIM and they will have to pull the dumbbells out of my "cold dead hands" before I quit this place.
